  • Statement in Response to News Report of Alleged Theft by a Professional Organizer

The National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) has been made aware through the news media that charges of alleged improper conduct have been brought against Ms. Nicola Havens of Bloomington, Minnesota, a member of our association. NAPO has no direct knowledge of the facts regarding the allegations surrounding this incident. NAPO members subscribe to the NAPO Code of Ethics, which makes very clear that a relationship of trust must exist between professional organizers and their clients. Included within that relationship of trust is a professional organizer’s obligation to deal with client property in an honest and lawful manner. If a NAPO member is found to have breached the Code of Ethics, NAPO is empowered to terminate that person’s membership in the organization. As these allegations are addressed in the judicial system, NAPO will monitor the situation, provide updates as warranted, and take action as appropriate. If you have any questions or concerns about this situation please contact Jill Banks at Jill.Banks@NAPO.net.
