Bio

As a mom and certified professional organizer, Deborah Kawashima, CPO of Creative Organizer (since 2003) provides hands-on organizing for creative professionals and families, specializing in working with kids and creating Photo Life Books to capture and preserve family memories and legacy. Her creative background as a Children’s wear designer and film production work, adds a fresh point of view to being an organizing consultant. Growing up, Deborah’s parents owned Montessori schools and this natural sense of order influences her approach to organizing, especially when working with families and creatives. Deborah has also taught life skill courses at UCLA extension’s Pathway from 2009 – 2013. An active member of NAPO (National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals) co-founded and was national committee chair (2005-2010) for NAPO in the Schools, received the 2006 Volunteer of the Year Award and the 2007 NAPO Innovator Award for her work on NAPO in the Schools. Since 2015, Deborah has been the Educational Chair for the POLA Committee (Professional Organizers Learning Academy) for NAPO-LA and in 2017 added a Bookclub for chapter members as part of their benefit.  In 2020 and 2021 she received NAPO-LA’s Leading Edge Award for her work with POLA. A proud mother of two young-adult sons in their twenties, who are successfully navigating their way in the world, Deborah lives in Studio City with her husband and their cat, Misty. When not organizing, Deborah writes – currently working on an organizing book.
